About

Hello! My name is Patrick, creator of this small website that I call Podkulachnik.

With this website, I plan to post anything that I would like to, imagine it as a sort of dumping grounds of ideas and projects that I wish to share with the world.

About Me

I’m a software engineer, specializing mainly in systems using C++. I spend a lot of time also programming in Python and Rust, each for their own reasons.

There are a few subjects that incredibly interest me, all of which that I believe bring togehter the person that I am.

Generally, I am interested in history and philosophy, for they give an amazing view backwards in time to see how people behaved and thought, their troubles and strifes, conflicts and cohesions. It makes you realize that you are not special, but a piece on the grand story of our planet. Every part of history has had their modus operandi, oftentimes limiting the potential of what truly can be done. We should strive to find ours.

As for mathematics, I believe that it is a beautiful attempt of trying to encapsulate the complexities of the world into a simple comprehensive language. From what I’ve seen, mathematicians develop methods that often take humanity decades to see the purpose of. We should always try to find new uses for the discoveries done before.

And for computing, it is an easy machine to be sucked into. Computers take up most of our time in the modern world, and the ecosystem grows ever more interconnected, and more importantly complex. New methods are created every day on top of old ones. Of course I would like to take a part in its understanding.

Geography – maybe a bit intertwined with history and computing, but I like exploring this world and seeing it’s little intricacies.

On top of that, I enjoy reading, exploring, playing poker, motorcycling, bicycling, hiking, and their combinations.

Philosophy

The only thing that I recognize with full certainty is that no single person in this world is able to fully and precisely comprehend the vastness of what the universe has in offer.

Perhaps, it should be our duty to figure out what our duty is.

Remember that as a part of this universe, one has a duty to do all it can to achieve these goals.

One must not become despondent to our ostensibly impossible desires.

This website was created thanks to the good people who spend their afternoons writing free software for all to use. The static website generator used is the Hugo, and the theme that this site is derived from is no other than the Cactus Theme.

The fern icon was originally meant to be the Barnsley Fern Fractal, but from lack of time to render one myself, I took the icon from Flaticon.
